Roye Sue's Story
Life
I left Hobbs after graduation, attended Cameron State College in Lawton Oklahoma and stayed for 17 years where I ultimately became a juvenile probation officer with the courts for ten years. I married in 1977 and have three children, two of which are wonderful step-children and the third is ours. Clif, the oldest, graduated from OU (Go Sooners!!) and is now a radiation therapist at SW Medical Center in the Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. He is also a gymnastic coach at a local gym in OK City. Lisa moved back to Atlanta for several years and then moved to Washington State, married Josh in Hawaii and a year later gave us our first grandchild....grandson on February 1st of 2005, Ethan James Long. Our second grandson, Jacob Michael, was born on December 31, 2006. They reside in Vancouver, Washington which is way too far away!! Kathie, our baby, is married and gave us our first grandaughter on November 30, 2006. She and Tyler live in Elk Grove, California which is just south of Sacramento. It too is very far away! Wow....life sure moves fast! Ultimately, I moved back to Hobbs for 11 years where I taught school and worked on the Miss New Mexico Pageant. Abilene, Texas was our next stop and from there Sugarland, Texas ( the Houston area). As if life wasn't busy enough, we were trans...Expand for more
ferred to Suwanee, Georgia which is considered the Atlanta area. I have taught mostly in elementary school, but had the opportunity in GA to move to Middle School where I have taught Social Studies in the 7th grade and am now a Quality Work Facilitator where I coach/mentor teachers and am the new Graduation Coach at my school which is part of the Forsyth County School System. During these last moves, I cared for my sweet 85 year old mom for seven years. She had Alzheimers which was trying at times but still would have done everything the same. She passed away on New Year's Eve, 2004. She has been missed.
Besides the newness of all the grandbabies, I busied myself attending grad school. That in itself kept me on my toes and my mind "tuned". Never too old to learn?! I completed my Masters in December 2007 in Curriculum and Instruction. I am living proof you can teach an old dog new tricks! I have decided that administration on the systemic level would be great and am getting an add on in Leadership at Kennesaw State University in the fall. What am I thinking???!!!!
Life has been good. I consider myself extremely blessed with a great family and wonderful friends. Some very dear friends I have lost contact with and am hoping this is where we can catch up on lost time. Please contact me.
